3 die in Synagogue church stampede



Lagos - Three persons have been confirmed dead at the Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN), Ikotun, Lagos following a stampede on the church’s premises on Saturday.
The incident occurred early Saturday morning during the church’s healing service as worshippers trooped to see the General Overseer of the church, Prophet T.B. Joshua.
The stampede occurred around 4.30am.
Sources said the dead were among those screened to  see the man of God.
The sources added that those screened were much and started struggling through the doorway to see the prophet.
In the process, three people collapsed.
They were rushed to the Isolo General Hospital, where they were confirmed dead.
Two of the victims were identified as Emeka Okonkwo and Emmanuel Oherin, while the third victim had yet to be identified.
Their corpses were said to have been deposited in a morgue in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, has confirmed the incident, adding that investigations were ongoing.
The stampede is coming more than two years after one of the church's buildings collapsed.
About 120 people according to News 24 died after the collapse.
Eighty-one of the dead were South African visitors to the SCOAN.
