Benin Traditional Council lifts ban on burial ceremonies

BENIN CITY – The Benin Traditional Council (BTC) has directed that burial ceremonies in Benin Kingdom, made up of the Seven Local Government Areas of Edo South Senatorial District should begin on Monday January 2, 2017.
A statement by Frank Irabor, BTC Secretary indicated that this has become necessary because, the coronation activities of His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II which necessitated the suspension of burial ceremonies in the kingdom would end on Saturday December 31, 2016.
The statement thanked all those who upheld the “highly respected customs and tradition.”
