A Katsina High Court has summoned Habiba Isyaku, a teenager entangled in the alleged forceful abduction and marriage saga, to appear before it over a letter deposited at the court distancing herself from an ongoing case before it.
At the resumed sitting yesterday, the Presiding Judge, Justice Baraka Wali drew the attention of the court to the letter which was addressed to the court through the registrar.
Daily Trust reports that Habiba who is the second applicant in the case was said to have written to the court distancing herself from the case as it was instituted without her consent or knowledge.
Deliberating on the matter, the prosecuting counsel Barrister BS Bawa who is also Habiba's lawyer said such letter should not have been an issue giving the fact that it was not supported with relevant documents like affidavits nor duly signed and besides it was written in Hausa language which is alien to the court as language of communication.
In their separate remarks, lawyers of the dependants, Abu Umar, IG Salisu, IBK Nasir and AM Saulawa argued that since the letter has come into been it was only proper for the court to listen to it more also coming from central pillar that the whole case revolves around.
Having listen to all deliberation, Justice Wali directed that Habiba be invited on the next adjourned sitting of 25th January to give oral evidence on the status of the purported letter.
